COLD WAX PAINTING
Artist's fascination with perceived freedom of the cold wax medium mixed with oil, pigments and sand, is evident in her intuitive expression. Her fearless layering technique utilizes blacks, Payne's gray and indigo at the base, and progresses to vibrant yellows, reds and golds. Her admiration of cold wax stems from the infinite possibilities of the medium, creating textures and immediate history on canvas, reminiscent of layers of old wall paint in European houses. These abstract scenes often resemble glowing streets at night, reflections of lights on a rainy pavement and blurry silhouettes in an urban environment. Her process is highly intuitive and therapeutic, led by emotions and joy. Without the technical constraints of photography, she takes the viewer on a dreamy journey of unseen imaginary worlds.
